Look, I have to admit that these guys are evil, but they’re absolutely brilliant. They are so inside our decision-making process they will always be twenty steps ahead of us. I honestly think if we stopped doing counterterrorism altogether we would be better off. I really don’t mean that, but for us to return to some semblance of sanity we have got to stop relying on the bad guys to make our counterterrorism policy. And we damn well have to stop hiring these people and putting them in charge of outreach.

The enemy is not at the gates, he’s already inside.

The perpretrators of this mess were FA30 folks(who are coordinators and not trained practitioners of PSYOP) and not MOS 37 (who are PSYOP/MISO folks operating under the authority given by USC Title 10 Section 167j). This whole debacle just goes to show how broken, disjointed, and confusing our Strat Comm, PD, IO, influence, PSYOP, MISO, etc efforts are. Truly sad.

Information Operations (IO) teams are often multi-disciplined, but they are certainly not endowed with mystical powers that give the ability to control people’s minds. LTC Holmes, the IO officer quoted in the article is either confused, misquoted, unaware of what PSYOP should or should not do, incapable of dealing with the media or all of the above.

Labeling all PSYOP personnel as “propaganda people” is not only unfair and untruthful but also borders on slander. This type of quote surely reveals how little the Rolling Stone really knows about PSYOP in the first place and that they are more interested in readership and web clicks (which of course lead to more advertising money – duh) than in reporting actual news. Had Enough Yet?

The Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration cause more Americans to question the competence and legitimacy of their government’s antiterrorism functionaries than any successful terrorist kinetic operation ever has.

After nine years, pretty much all the frogs have begun to notice that the water in their pot is too damn hot, but few can now muster the energy to hop out, let alone turn the stove off and fire the cook.

DEFENSE of the Continental United States used to be a military mission.  The United States Air Force failed on 9/11 to defend New York City and the Pentagon from attack by enemy aircraft.   The Unorganized Militia of  Flight 93 succeeded in defending The Whitehouse that day, a Pyrhhic victory with 100% casualties to attackers, defenders and everyone on board.  The American people, their elected representatives, and the chain of command  failed to correctly interpret those events,  failed to hold those most responsible for failure accountable, and worst of  all failed to learn the lessons Al Qaeda taught that day. 

 All those cumulative failures bring us to where we are today.   And too many of the over-heated frogs  still think our Federalized, professionalized airport security force is only doing what is best for us.

Mark Harvey of The Snooper Report and Pat Dollard are spearheading a summer border operation in Arizona. Potential Public Affairs nightmare here for any Sheriff who overtly coordinates with and incorporates Civilian Irregular Border Operatives into their County law enforcement assist organizations. Sheriffs are politicians, and Irregulars who really want to be useful need to provide Sheriffs with some plausible deniability.

Ever wonder why the Coast Guard has an Auxiliary but the Border Patrol doesn’t?
Probably for the same reason COCHISE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SHERIFF’S ASSIST TEAM Members DO NOT take enforcement action, carry weapons, or make arrests.
Probably for the same reason Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Community Service Volunteers will not be armed and will not carry any kind of weapon.
Probably for the same reason Gov. Brewer hasn’t tried to recruit an Arizona State Guard .

About the Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputy Shot Last May

Tapes Released Of Border Shoot-Out

Pinal County Arizona could use some help, but much of the “help” volunteering are more trouble than they’re worth, like the fat Nazis in ACU’s blundering about the desert last weekend. Truly helpful help cannot involve Pinal County or the State of Arizona in any lawsuits.

What they really need won’t be publicized. Low-profile, unobtrusive, plausibly deniable Listening Posts/Observation Posts on private property with night vision devices and effective communications. Who pays for the gear? Either the volunteer out of his own pocket or the land owner, perhaps with financial contributions from concerned citizens or the Arizona Stock Growers Association. Armed or unarmed in accordance with the land owner’s wishes. If armed, armed for personal defense only with weapons commonly in use among the legally armed citizens of Arizona. Observe and report. Exfil at BMNT. Leave no trash. TAKE NO CREDIT. Let the land owner and/or the Sheriff take the credit for any successes. That will get the volunteers invited back and appreciated for what they accomplish.

The Bright Lights of Cochise County

The Cochise County Militia’s founder and director Bill Davis is planning to form a “private military company” that would not work for money, according to Tim Steller of the Arizona Daily Star.

A volunteer, unpaid PMC is an oxymoron to me.  PMC’s don’t work for free.

Now Davis and his colleagues are planning to offer “commercial military services” to border-area property holders. The volunteer militia’s paramilitary squad would work at the landowner’s request “providing security & trespasser interdiction” and would not shy from a confrontation, he wrote in an e-mail.

“We comply with any law possible and then some. But we’re not about to step aside anymore and let them through. We’re going to turn them around and send them back scared,” Davis said.

The squad would consist largely of U.S. military combat veterans, already a significant contingent of the group Davis formed in 2001, he said.

“They all have confirmed kills, from Vietnam or later on. They’re not wannabes who go out and buy a set of camos and go out in the woods with a rifle,” Davis said.

Confirmed kills my ass. Are they all snipers?

Send them back scared? Intimidation. Lawsuit. Wonder how many land owners are up for that liability? Didn’t Ranch Rescue fail?

Cochise County has a Sheriff Assist Team, but the CCM wants to be armed. Something tells me that Sheriff Dever knows all about the CCM, and has pretty good reasons for not deputizing and pinning stars on every one of them.

My advice to CCM would be change your name, delete your website, and operate individually or in small teams on the property of whatever landowners will have you.

9) Some farmers also hired soldiers on leave to guard their premises at night. Usually these were men looking for extra “beer” money. They were called Bright Lights, and often ended up in fire fights with the terrorists, where they came as a nasty surprise to the terrs when the latter were expecting a nice soft hit and run. Like all farmers in an area, Bright Lights would participate in the support of other farmers when the situation required.

D                MLI (SME) — Total destruction of item and components so as to preclude restoration or repair to a usable condition by  melting, cutting, tearing,     scratching, crushing, breaking, punching, neutralizing, etc.  (As an alternate, burial or deep water dumping may be used when approved by the DOD Demilitarization Program Office.)

Now why would they do that?

DOD Ends Sale of Expended Military Brass to Remanufacturers

There is a letter at the above link from DOD Surplus stating Recently it has been determined that fired munitions of all calibers, shapes and sizes have been designated to be Demil code B. As a result and in conjunction with DLA’s current Demil code B policy, this notice will serve as official notification which requires Scrap Venture (SV) to implement mutilation as a condition of sale for all sales of fired munitions effective immediately.

Which is confusing to me because Demil code B isn’t the code that requires demilitarization or mutilation.  Maybe they misheard Delta as Bravo.

Nameless, faceless bureaucrats deep within the bowels of an obscure element of the Defense Logistics Agency have reached out and touched  millions of American shooters by monkeying with the disposition of expended Class V residue, which if you ask me is a bunch of expended Class I residue.

The facts as I know them, which come directly from candid discussions with my CEO, indicate the following:

– Prior to 11/2008, Demil B items required no mutilation for sale to the public. That policy changed in November, but several exceptions were granted. Expended munitions brass was one of those given a waiver.

– Enter the new administration. Since Demil B category items had been given a broad, general label as “national security sensitive” someone above the DRMS (likely in the DLA) reviewed the policy and immediately went with a CYA policy and yanked all exemptions. No thoughts or considerations were given to the implications of this policy change, but this directive was issued to DOD Surplus effective immediately last week.

– Shit storm blows up as a result. In particular, the letters, phone calls, and emails to our legislators, the media, and anyone else who would listen caused this policy to be review post haste.

– As of this morning our company was informed that expended munitions brass will now be reclassified as Demil Q –– which requires no mutilation unless sold to a foreign country.

There you have it. The policy change was simply the result of some n00b administrator attempting to close a perceived “national security” loophole and brass got caught up in the snare. There was no political motivation behind the policy change, but it is good that people like us were suspicious, got involved, and helped bring about a resolution.

P. 3 — Reemergence of the Movement:

Rightwing extremists and militia leaders continuously exploit world events in order to increase participation in their movements.  Due to the current economical and political situation, a lush environment for militia activity has been created.  Unemployment rates are high, as well as cost of living expenses.  Additionally, President Elect Barack Obama is seen as tight on gun control and many extremists fear that he will enact firearms confiscations.  White supremacists from within the militia movement have further become angered due to the election of the first African American President.  Many constitutionalists within the movement have claimed that President Elect Obama does not meet the residency requirements to hold the office of President, and therefore his election is unconstitutional.

Newer versions of the NWO conspiracy have been concocted in order to empower the movement.   The NWO is seen as using law enforcement, military, national guard, and federal agencies in order to carry out its elitist one world government.  Law enforcement and military forces are believed to be utilized in order to confiscate firearms and place individuals into FEMA concentration camps.  This scenario has received additional attention due to the US Army NORTHCOM assigning homeland securityh functions to an active duty Infantry Brigade.  The movement sees this brigade as the force that will take their firearms and that the unit is in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.   There are also concers that the banking and media infrastructure are also being controlled by the Jewish elite and that these leaders are members of the NWO.  There is a great deal of anger towards the Federal Reserve System (FRS) and all forms of tax collection.

P. 6 — Implications for Law Enforcement

There are significant differences between the 1990’s era militia and those of today, most notably:

Highly Trained:  Militia members are receiving  more professonalized training than they did during the first spike of the movement in the 1990’s.

Leadership training:  Militia members are receiving advanced leadership and operational planning training.   This has allowed for the establishment of a strong Non Commissioned Officer Corps (NCO) within groups.   An NCO Corps allows operations to be run at the fire team and squad size.  This enables units to conduct multiple operations simultaneously;  “Complex attacks”.  This training will also enable  individuals to form and train their own organizations.

You are the Enemy.  The militia subscibes to an anti-government and NWO mindset, which creates a threat to law enforcement officers.  They view the military, National Guard, and law enforcement as a force that will confiscate their firearms and place them in FEMA concentration camps.

Looked authentic to me, too, but was leery of the source. Run up on that site often in the course of my own IO research and am not a fan, but I must relunctantly concede that they have found an acorn.

I was a close observer of the Clinton-era Militia Movement. The Obama era is shaping up to be even worse, and so will be the push back. The concepts of government by consent of the governed, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, and the Right of the People to alter or to abolish any Form of Government that becomes destructive of the ends it was instituted to meet, and to institute new Government laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness, must be ridiculed, and their adherents demonized, if would-be tyrants and their lackeys are to sleep well at night.

MIAC has regurgitated Mark Pitcavage‘s anti-militia propaganda.

The smart Militia Man (and there are some) will understand the operant conditioning at work here, and avoid confrontations at times and places not of their own choosing.

I thought it was brilliant to store ’em at Gitmo. The alternatives were Diego Garcia or prison ships in the Indian Ocean, and the Brits would have wimped out on DG, just like we’re wimping out now.

We keep these unlawful combatants alive for two reasons:

1) Intelligence from interrogation

2) Lawfare

If it weren’t for lawfare we could execute them when their intelligence value has been exhausted. Lawfare, according to Colonel Charles Dunlap,

describes a method of warfare where law is used as a means of realizing a military objective. There are many dimensions to lawfare, but the one ever more frequently embraced by U.S. opponents is a cynical manipulation of the rule of law and the humanitarian values it represents. Rather than seeking battlefield victories, per se, challengers try to destroy the will to fight by undermining the public support that is indispensable when democracies like the U.S. conduct
military interventions.”25 


They will end up turning most of them loose. Probably about 10% will go back to Jihad. They will kill people. The MSM will bury those stories. They’ll be too busy providing megaphones for the few we bother to try in court, who will probably go scott free.

And when an outraged American caps one of these assholes, the MSM will whine about vigilantes.

There has been too much political warfare, non-military PSYOP, propaganda, counterpropaganda, CNA, Old Media bias, New Media pushback, for me to blog on it all.  This is not intended to be a political blog.  It’s supposed to be a blog about Information Operations, Psychological Operations, Morale Operations, propaganda, counterpropaganda, media bias, and maintaining popular support for The Long War.  But the political war in my homeland has elements of all those aspects.   

I’m a bitter clinger.  I’m clinging even more bitterly now.  So are my pards in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.

What drives today’s decision is neither the meaning of
the Suspension Clause, nor the principles of our precedents,
but rather an inflated notion of judicial supremacy.

power to review the confinement of enemy prisoners held
by the Executive anywhere in the world.

Today the Court warps our Constitution in a way that
goes beyond the narrow issue of the reach of the Suspension
Clause, invoking judicially brainstormed separationof-
powers principles to establish a manipulable “functional”
test for the extraterritorial reach of habeas corpus
(and, no doubt, for the extraterritorial reach of other
constitutional protections as well). It blatantly misdescribes
important precedents, most conspicuously Justice
Jackson’s opinion for the Court in Johnson v. Eisentrager.
It breaks a chain of precedent as old as the common law
that prohibits judicial inquiry into detentions of aliens
abroad absent statutory authorization. And, most tragically,
it sets our military commanders the impossible task
of proving to a civilian court, under whatever standards
this Court devises in the future, that evidence supports
the confinement of each and every enemy prisoner.

The Nation will live to regret what the Court has done
today. I dissent.

The Constitution is not a suicide pact. It is through such travesties as this that patriotism, devotion to duty and keeping of oaths is diminished.

Develop and maintain the will necessary to attain the national strategic end state.

A-21. For Army forces, legitimacy comes from three important factors. First, the operation or campaign must be conducted under U.S. law. Second, the operation must be conducted according to international laws and treaties recognized by the United States, particularly the law of war. Third, the campaign or operation should develop or reinforce the authority and acceptance for the host-nation government by both the governed and the international community. This last factor is frequently the decisive element.

A-22. Legitimacy is also based on the will of the American people to support the mission. The American people’s perception of legitimacy is strengthened if obvious national or humanitarian interests are at stake.

Their perception also depends on their assurance that American lives are not being placed at risk needlessly or carelessly.

A-23. Other interested audiences may include foreign nations, civil populations in and near the operational area, and participating multinational forces. Committed forces must sustain the legitimacy of the operation and of the host-nation government, where applicable. Security actions must balance with the need to maintain legitimacy. Commanders must consider all actions potentially competing for strategic and tactical requirements.

All actions must exhibit fairness in dealing with competing factions where appropriate. Legitimacy depends on the level of consent to the force and to the host-nation government, the people’s expectations, and the force’s credibility.

The United States has granted veto power over any military operation it might attempt to whoever can delegitimize the mission and kill domestic support.  All current and future enemies and adversaries have to do to paralyze us is partner with domestic oppositional elements such as anti-war organizations, anti-Administration politicians, wealthy Hungarian benefactors, the Perpetually Aggrieved, Guilty White Liberals, the Politically Correct, Multi-cultural, Carbon Dispensationists and Transnational Progressives who can be relied upon to activate their As Sahab media arms in a coordinated effort to magnify all imperfections, exaggerate all negative aspects, accept at face value all enemy narratives, treat all friendly narratives with withering scorn and total skepticsm, and hamsting any effort to employ American power.

Our enemies and adversaries will never be held to these standards.

Abrams Doctrine – put all the CSS in the RC to make expeditionary forces logistically unsustainable without mobilization and public buy in so no future LBJ can repeat Vietnam.

Powell Doctrine – find excuses not to act until the whole American public buys in so no future LBJ can repeat Vietnam.  Spend half a year  amassing an armor-heavy field army to fight a 100-hour set-piece battle.  Quit early because MSM calls you a bully for killing underdogs in large numbers.  Leave job for younger  brothers and sons to finish 12 – 17 years later.

Gates Doctrine – The press is not the enemy.  Getting public buy in is somebody else’s job.  The enemy gets a vote.

America is going out of the super power business.  The ability of enemies, adversaries, and internal opponents to deny legitimacy exceeds .gov/.mil’s ability to sustain or build legitimacy.

Lucky for us .gov/.mil ain’t the only game in town.

Commissioned milbloggers are for most intents and purposes McCain-Feingolded early, should somebody decide to make an example of them.  That will come. Those that continue will need auxiliaries beyond the reach of retribution.  That’s a mission for PIST.
