By mid-2007, some Al-Qaeda-related Web sites were broadening their agendas. “Media jihad” included entering online forums with large American audiences in order to influence “the views of the weak-minded American” who “is an idiot and does not know where Iraq is.” The “weak-minded” were to be targeted with videos showing U.S. troops under fire and with false messages purportedly from American soldiers and their families lamenting their involvement in the Iraq war. At the same time, Web forums for Islamist audiences featured information gleaned from Western news reports, such as poll results showing lack of public support for the war and, occasionally, information about weapons systems that news stories published.
No shortage of weak-minded Americans already primed by decades of first Soviet, then multiculti/PC/tranzie/environmentalist whacko brainwashing to be easily influenced by anti-Western, anti-American, anti-capitalist propaganda.
Politicians don’t get re-elected pointing out the stupidity of large numbers of their constituents.
Regularly constituted Executive Branch Department Public Affairs/Public Diplomacy/Strategic Communications/Perception Management/persuader-changer-influencers won’t touch this with a ten foot pole. The power of the beneficiaries of a weak-minded electorate to punish is greater than the power of the strong-minded electorate to reward.
All we can do is endeavor to persevere. Horrendous events may eventually raise the IQ-level amongst the survivors. While we wait we can be educating the educable and convincing the rest that Gaia wants them to reduce their footprint to 0.
Dont’ know who this guy is, [UPDATE: Kat does, see comment #2 below] but I’d follow him.
What can Americans do at this critical hour? America has to sacrifice today along with her men and women in uniform. We must be more than an armed services at war and a nation at the mall. There are some things that America can sacrifice on behalf of her soldiers.
Sacrifice any emotion that will cause us to come home from this war as losers.
It will not be enough to remember our service in this war on slabs of white marble and national monuments of black stone. That will not be enough for our generation of warriors. That is only remembering. But if we want to honor those who will not come home, who gave up their youth, never knew the joys of marriage, never raised a family, will never live to see their grandchildren grow up in the very freedoms that their sacrifice purchased, that we must honor what they fought for and honor the true heroes that gave it all and honor it with victory.
We must never forget that we are Americans. Our nation has never been built on the labor and hard work of the cynic and the critic. Americans today are so apprehensive, and we fret about so many things, but the difference between what is good and what is evil has not changed, only the ability of some Americans to identify it.
Mr. Reynolds may not understand why I have him blogrolled under Cyber Guerilla Chieftains, but I mean it in a good way. He is a yellow node in the Blogospheric Resisitance. I was in Anbar when I posted that, and we didn’t have to take malaria pills, so how bad could the malaria be? The pecker checkers in Afghanistan were always pushing Malarone.

Ever wonder how all that heroin gets smuggled out of Afghanistan?
Q Do you think that southern ratline has been shut down?
GEN. MCNEILL: I don’t have any forces in Nimroz province. The Afghan National Army has no forces in Nimroz province. And there is not a whole lot of active police down there. But I do have some capability to watch it, and I watch it as closely as I possibly can.
The War Lord of Argghhh! was on a panel about milblogging which I just watched. Sure wish I could have found the transcript! I can read faster than those guys can talk. I’ll never get that 1:18:52 back, but there were some nuggets in there, like when and where the next MilBlog Conference will be. If you want to understand milblogging you ought to watch it.
The Soviets not only armed and trained Palestinian terrorists but also used them to arm and train other professional terrorists by the thousands.
By 1973, Arafat was a Soviet puppet (and would remain such until the fall of the USSR). His adjutants, including Mahmoud Abbas, were being trained by the KGB in guerrilla warfare, espionage, and demolition; and his ideologues had gone to North Vietnam to learn the propaganda Tao of Ho Chi Minh.
Arafat was particularly struck by Ho’s success in mobilizing left-wing sympathizers in Europe and the United States, where activists on American campuses, enthusiastically following the line of North Vietnamese operatives, had succeeded in reframing the Vietnam War from a Communist assault on the south to a struggle for national liberation. Ho’s chief strategist, General Giap, made it clear to Arafat and his lieutenants that in order to succeed, they too needed to redefine the terms of theirstruggle.
Giap’s counsel was simple but profound: the PLO needed to work in a way that concealed its real goals, permitted strategic deception, and gave the appearance of moderation: “Stop talking about annihilating Israel and instead turn your terror war into a struggle for human rights. Then you will have the American people eating out of your hand.”
Cultural Marxists, Multi-Culturalists, Radical Environmentalists, Transnational Progressivists, Collectivists, Post-Modernists, all the ex-Communists and sympathizers and fellow-travelers, quacking like hungry ducks for the anti-Western corn in al Qaeda’s/Hezbollah’s/Hamas’/Fatah’s/Iran’s hand. They’re all in it together.
